Rothko's Very Early Landscapes

Painter Mark Rothko was notorious for being a late-bloomer, showing few signs of genius before he struck upon his unique approach late in middle age. Like many, I'm not a fan of his early work, but I do like these Oregon landscapes painted very early, at age 30. They don't reveal even a glimmer of the totemic power and brilliance of his later output, but I like them.
