I try to come up with freshness here, but that's why the Slog is so thinly-read. Confirmation bias is more dominant than people realize. Everyone wants to hear their own visceral convictions expressed a notch more eloquently and two notches more emphatically. That's the sweet spot.
Me, I avoid sweet spots. What I like to read is stuff that makes me realize what an idiot I am. So, following the Golden Rule, that's what I write. Most people would rather feel right than be right, and I just can't relate to that at all.
