I hadn't used the app
Hopstop in a while, and it's been vastly improved. It now gives nicely complete transit information, directions, and mappings for
a number of cities (mostly in the US).
Google Maps offers a lot more cities, and, as a separate app, the info doesn't conveniently overlay the map you're looking at (where presumably you have your destination keyed in and bookmarks stored), but the app offers much richer flexibility (you can set lots of prefs, e.g. whether to favor more walking or more transfers; to include or not include buses, etc) and much more detailed directions.
