More iOs 6 Maps Stuff
Follow-up to the follow-up....
Chowhound David Lerner of Tekserve (where I've been buying and fixing my computers since 1988) informs me that if you're in Maps doing a search or getting directions, you can have Maps pass your query to another app (e.g. Hopstop) for transit info/directions/mapping, and it passes all the waypoints so you don't need to set up the search again.
That's better. It's not an ideal workaround, but it'll suffice until Google puts out a Maps app. And as far as the new Maps' data being laughably spotty and inaccurate, I'm confident that'll get better. Apple almost certainly is pouring itself into the task of fixing all that, and lord knows they've got enough data points to do so quickly.
Speaking of Apple, re: all the recent trademark nonsense, Swiss Federal Railways says Apple copied its iconic railway clock
