Gender Hopefulness

As I tweeted back (here's my Twitter feed, which mostly retweets insightful stuff I stumble upon, and also announces new Slog postings):
More than anything else, it's a poorly constructed polling question. E.g. I do not "hope to see a female president". I do hope to see an honest, competent president. I have no preference whatsoever as to gender.

NICE. I learn so much from your blog Jim. that post about the ceiling painting was helping me a lot. My friend has a degree in computer science but is having trouble finding a job in any field. He finally took a job through a temp agency working at a pretzel factory. He says he has been sleeping better and he was rolling with it. I told him about your post and also my own experience in the restaurant business. For me dishwasher was the best job! But now I am waiting for him to come home so I can tell him the bank sent him a notice saying the temp agency put a stop payment on his paycheck. The first one cleared fine. And yesterday he just deposited another check. I'm at a complete loss here. I know this ain't dear abby but any advice at all would help. The check was for less than three hundred dollars.

I'd fight it in small claims court! No need to hire a lawyer for this amount.

Thanks Jim. I don't see him going back to work there for his shift on sunday, maybe he will be relieved but I'm afraid he will take it very hard. It is difficult to get a job even at McDonald's or Walmart these days. Was trying to think of some words of encouragement to soften the blow. Sorry for gunking up your blog and thanks for putting up with me.

I can't find the original poll. I want to see how well or poorly worded the original poll is, thanks in advance.
